 Kanatek requires a Systems Architect to provide technical consulting services to our clients.  Reporting to the Director of Professional Services, the successful incumbent will work out of Kanatek's headquarters in Ottawa, working closely with the sales and marketing teams to drive business. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide technical services for customers in a highly complex data storage environment

- Provide consulting, design, and/or implementation support for data storage and protection

- Works closely with sales, technical services and support groups, external vendor partners, and the client to ensure a smooth implementation and transition.

- Provide general sales support for products and services, including demonstrations, proposal preparation and bid responses

MANDATORY SKILLS REQUIRED

 - 5-8 years total hands-on experience in one or more of the following
disciplines:

• backup and recovery software
• tape technology
• RAID storage products
• SAN fibre architecture

- Excellent technical pre-sales skills, including formal presentations

- Pre-Sales support of storage, clustered systems or high availability solutions

- Must have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX)
• Windows
• Novell

- Deep knowledge of networking technologies

- Experience working with storage products on a variety of Open Systems

- Superior analytical abilities, resulting in problem resolution

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages

- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

ASSETS

- High performance storage subsystems and SAN technologies; IP SAN; iSCSI, NAS

- Database backup and restore, such as Oracle, SQL, Exchange, SAP
Fibre channel fabric such as Qlogic/Brocade/McDATA switches

- Clustered systems or high availability solutions Certifications (MCSE,Veritas, Sun, HP)
