Kanatek has worked with a Monteral based organization that delivers telecommunications and information technology solutions to the global air transport community and similar needs in non-airline markets. The scope of work was for Kanatek to install and configure Symantec Cluster Server (VCS) software on two clusters. The first cluster provided high availability to the Oracle application. It consisted of two Dell servers running NT 4, Symantec Cluster software (VCS), VCS Oracle Agent, and the Oracle software in an Active/Standby mode. The second cluster provides high availability to the OLAP application. It consisted of two Dell servers running NT 4, VCS, and OLAP software in an Active/Standby mode. The second cluster standby node also ran the Broadbase Foundation but it was not monitored by VCS. The client installed and configured the Oracle software and the Broadbase software. The servers were connected to an HDS 9900 disk array (supplied by SITA EQUANT JV) via InRange switches. The cluster servers were configured as per this diagram.
At the end of the installation, acceptance tests were successfully conducted to demonstrate that the servers were functional and a final Installation and Configuration document was produced. The document outlined the VCS configuration, application binary and data locations, and application fail-over functionality.
