Kanatek worked with an international IT company to implement a Symantec Cluster Server (VCS) merger project as it pertains to the collapse and merger of four SunFire 15K domains into two domains.
There were two active VCS service groups running on this four node (domain) cluster: PHL (Oracle Database) and Central Instance (CI) which is actually SAP. There was also an FHI service group that was still in the VCS main.cf configuration file but the FHI service group was “offline local”.
The client wanted to merge the two domains in each SunFire 15K server into a single domain such that at the end of the project, there was only one VCS node per host in the VCS cluster.
