Kanatek worked with an international telecommunications company to provide professional services for the NetBackup server consolidation project in the US . The services involved merging 10 master servers in one location, 7 servers in a second, and 6 servers in a third location.
Kanatek's work included:
- Verifying hardware/software requirements were met
- Upgrading NetBackup server to match the destination Master server
- Ensuring that there were no mismatch on Patch revs on all servers
- Checking for and fixing duplicate media in media databases
- Moving catalog to destination server
- Merging catalog Databases (Media and Image DB)
- Moving media to destination server
- Test browsing the catalog for merged images on the destination server
- Test restores from merged images on the destination server
- Changing the name of the destination Master server if required
- Updating the Client's configuration files if needed
- Testing backups and restores
