to Kathmandu in Nepal.
The expedition party is led by Dr Sean Egan,
63, an accomplished mountaineer and professor
of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa.
What?
The media is invited to collect footage of the
expedition party leaving for Everest at one of
two venues.
When & Where?
Friday, March 25th,
12.45pm, 3rd Floor Departures Area, Ottawa International
Airport
(The expedition party will be arriving
at 12.30pm for a 3pm flight to Toronto)
Thursday, March
24th, 6pm – 9pm, Heart & Crown
Pub, 67 Clarence Street, Ottawa
(The leaving party
for family and friends will include a short
presentation by Terry Kell, president of Kanatek,

Why?
There are several things that make this expedition
so compelling:
- The
expedition aims to put Dr Sean Egan on top
of Mount Everest as the oldest Canadian to
ever stand there
- The
expedition is based on collaborative
research between two Canadian universities – University
of Ottawa and Ryerson
- The
research data will be stored and backed up
remotely, via satellite, at Kanatek in Kanata,
which will act as a disaster recovery site
- The
expedition will link up with R.Tait McKenzie
Public School, in Almonte, via a live telecast
from Base Camp, and link to other schools
by amateur radio
- The expedition
is organising a game of shinny hockey on the
Khumbu Glacier at Everest Base Camp. They have
Team Canada jerseys, signed by Ron Ellis and
Paul Henderson, and are hoping to meet up with
a Russian expedition and challenge them to “The
Real Summit Series”
- The
expedition is raising money for two charities,
Child Haven International and Teen Ranch
