opens children's school in Kathmandu, Nepal
Kathmandu, Nepal, Wednesday March 12th 2008: In 2005, Kanatek sponsored an expedition to Mount Everest with its technology partners www.kanatek.com/everest/. The expedition was led by Sean Egan who was attempting to be the oldest Canadian to summit Mount Everest. The excitement turned to drama, tragedy and grief as Sean died before he had a chance to summit. From that tragedy was born the dream of creating a permanent legacy in his name by helping Child Haven, a charity Sean supported, with its plans to build a school. The legacy was fulfilled by a group of people involved with the initial expedition, calling themselves Ad Astra - Aim High. Three years later, Kanatek president Terry Kell returned to Kathmandu to attend the opening of the new school with Ad Astra and Child Haven representatives.
It has been a remarkable journey and you can read about the school opening and see the pictures on the Ad Astra web site at www.adastra-aimhigh.com.
Kanatek would particularly like to thank four of its technology partners who helped with its fundraising efforts, EDS, HDS, VMware and Diligent.
Kanatek would also like to thank its many partners, customers and suppliers who helped with personal donations, support and offers of service. Together, we have helped build a school to give children a chance.
