| One-time Toronto training session for the Canadian Mount Everest expedition team
Who? The Canadian Mount Everest expedition team led by Dr. Sean Egan, accomplished mountaineer and professor of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa , is setting off to conquer the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest . At 63 years old, Dr. Egan is attempting to become the oldest Canadian to summit the mountain at 29,028 feet. The expedition team includes Peter Luk, director, School of Business Management at Ryerson University and several other professors from Ryerson University who will be climbing to Base Camp at 17,600 feet to conduct various research projects. The expedition is sponsored by Kanatek Technologies (www.Kanatek.com), an independent storage integrator with offices in Mississauga , Ottawa and Montreal .
What? The members of the expedition have been training individually and in teams for months. Most of the key participants of the expedition will train together as a group on March 2 for the first and only time before leaving for Kathmandu , Nepal .
The media is invited to collect footage of the expedition team training together doing multiple rapid ascents of the stairs in full climbing gear. Members of the expedition will be available for interviews prior to the training session.

Why? Ryerson University researchers are going to Mount Everest to research the relationships between fitness and aging and sport tourism in the context of extreme adventure.
Accompanying the climbing expedition for three weeks is a party of hikers that includes senior IT executives from private and public Canadian organizations and leaders from the Ryerson University Business School . The expedition is sponsored by Kanatek Technologies. “We want to put Canadian IT solutions on top of the world. We will be using the latest in communications technology to demonstrate data recovery in a hostile environment,” said Kanatek Technologies president, Terry Kell, of the expedition.
