"the perfect storm"

Peter Gerr, a Boston-based analyst with the Enterprise Strategy Group, works in the area of data protection and data management solutions. Peter sees a "perfect storm" forming between the technological challenges of managing and protecting growing mountains of data and new threats to the business that include addressing regulatory compliance and preparing for litigation and electronic discovery events. This “storm” will have a great impact on Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in Canadian organizations as they look for insight into the changing picture of information storage, as well as a detailed analysis of how compliance and the need to manage electronic records throughout their lifecycle exposes organizations and individuals to a new set of threats, challenges, and opportunities.

Peter will present his views to an audience of CIOs and specialists in the field of data management at two upcoming seminars.

Also speaking at the two seminars are:

  • Gerry Gaetz, Chief of Banking Operations, Bank of Canada , who will be speaking on creating IT infrastructure and business continuity arrangements that support the Bank's high availability banking systems.
  • Michael P. Sullivan, Chief Information Officer, Entrust ,  who will outline the keys to a successful Information Security governance program and achieving regulatory compliance.
  • Bernadette Eischen, Counsel, Borden Ladner Gervais, who will look at areas of legal concern around electronic data governance and compliance.
  • Bernie Mandl, Manager, Finance & Productivity, Siemens Business Services, who will review the main areas of focus for an organization to provide high levels of security and internal controls.

Tuesday, March 1 st: Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Ottawa
Thursday, March 3 rd: TSX Broadcast & Conference Centre, Toronto
