Expedition Objectives  

There are six expedition objectives:

1. Successfully summiting Mount Everest
This is the ultimate goal of all Everest expeditions, and with the strong team of internationally-recognised climbers we have every reason to hope for success on this trip.

2. Translating the expedition effort in to new business opportunities
The bottom line for this expedition is to promote the value that Kanatek and its co-sponsors bring their clients.

3. Demonstrating the successful use of technology in a hostile environment
Core to Kanatek's business is the sale and support of high technology equipment and we don't want to miss this opportunity to work with our suppliers to demonstrate the use of their equipment from one of the world's most hostile environments.

4. Conducting important scientific research by Canadian Universities
We want to support some of the key research work being done by the University of Ottawa and Ryerson University.

5. Taking Canadian hockey to new heights
Just for fun, we want to play the world's highest altitude ball hockey game – the “real summit series”. The game will take place on the Khumbu glacier, at base camp, at 17,575 feet. Who knows, it might be the only hockey we see this year?

6. Raising money for charity
Every event that Kanatek has been involved with has included a charity element where we and our partners can help raise money for a good cause. At this event we will be raising funds for Child Haven International, an international charity that assists children and women in 4 countries, who are in need of food, education, health care, shelter and clothing, emotional and moral support. Child Haven International has four homes in India, one in Nepal, one in Tibet and one in Bangladesh.
