Dr. Sean Egan, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Ottawa
Dr. Sean Egan is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences in the School of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. He is the expedition leader for the Kanatek sponsored trip to Everest in March 2005, and an accomplished climber.
In the early winter of 2002, Dr. Egan, fresh from two successful research expeditions to Mount Everest, assembled a group of individuals from the academic community to plan a return to Everest in order to complete new and innovative research and to attempt to reach the summit. If Dr Egan is successful he will be the oldest Canadian to ever summit Mount Everest. In preparation for his bid he successfully climbed Mount Aconcagua in Argentina (22,841 feet) on January 23rd 2005.
Dr Egan is a published author with his book, The Psychology of Health: In Pursuit of Wellness, now in its second edition. Dr Egan earned his Diploma in Education in Waterford in Ireland, completed a BA in Literature at University College Dublin, a DES in Education Physique at ENSEPS in Paris, and a PhD in Sport Psychology and Motor Learning at Eugene, Orgeon, USA.
