Sean Egan Memorial Fund – Ad Astra

In memory and honour of Sean’s life a special fund-raising initiative has been set up.

The members of the expedition and Sean’s family are working with Child Haven, the charity chosen by Sean to be associated with his recent expedition to Everest, to build a school for the children in Kathmandu, Nepal. The design plans are already underway for a two-storey brick and concrete school that will be a lasting legacy to Sean’s life as an educator. When completed, the school will be able to receive more than 130 students. Building work starts in early 2006 if all goes well and will be completed within 2 years. The cost is CDN$150,000 and a special web site will be set up to report on fundraising initiatives and progress toward the dream.

Sean’s life was devoted to education and a commitment to personal health, fitness and well-being. After a lot of thought and discussion, the expedition members and Sean’s family decided that the most meaningful way to remember Sean is to build a school in an area of the world that meant a lot to him – Kathmandu. Over the coming weeks and months you will see a number of initiatives developed by the team to raise this money and we hope you will support the fund with a donation, a fund-raising initiative or an offer of service.

Donations can be made at www.childhaven.ca/donate.htm.
